About Us

WHO WE ARE: The Babbacombe Ukulele Strummers held their first meeting on the 28th November 2011, with  most people novices to the ukulele.  Since then the group has learnt to play numerous tunes, given many public performances, and now has some 30 regular members including some with more experience.

WHERE WE MEET:  The group, known as the BUS, meets on most Monday evenings at the Precinct Centre, St Mary’s Church, St Marychurch, TQ1 4QY. The session lasts from 7:15 to 9:15pm.  To check the actual dates visit the Diary.

CHARGES: To cover costs there is a charge of £2 per person at each session attended Note: for new members there is no charge for the first ‘taster’ session.

WHAT WE DO: During the session we sing and play together to learn new tunes, practice others for performances, as well as learning new chords and techniques on the ukulele to develop our playing skills. And of course to have fun!

BEGINNERS: We welcome beginners who are an important part of the group and arrange separate workshops for those new to the ukulele on the basics of the instrument and how to play it.  However, currently as our membership numbers are at a maximum Beginners Workshops are not scheduled – see how to Join the group for more details.

OUR PERFORMANCES:  An enjoyable part of our activity is playing in public and we offer our services free of charge to charities and other organisations through our members and by word of mouth.

YOUR PERSONAL DATA: Our Personal Data Policy describes how Babbacombe Ukulele Strummers looks after your personal data such as name and email address. Click here to read the policy on this.

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN US:  Our group is an excellent place to try out the ukulele in a friendly atmosphere, or to play one if you already have experience.  However, currently our numbers are at a maximum so there is a waiting list for new members.  You can always come along to listen at a session to see if it is for you. If you want to put your name down on the membership waiting list, see how to Join the group for more details.
